On a summer morning, at the Fajr call for prayer, Shadi wakes up. He knows what he has to do, but it does not make things easier. His father sent him along with uncle Suleyman to sell the camel that has lived with them as part of the family for many years. Now the family does not need the camel.
You will find in this novel a great similarity account between the life of the writer Youssef Abu Rayya and the main character of the story (Shadi). Both of them belong to the middle class of the Egyptian countryside population, and both have lived through the end of the old era and the breaking in of a new world age!
